DIVE INTO THE SPIRIT OF MUSIC THIS WORLD MUSIC DAY
“Where words fail, music speaks"  -Hans Christian Anderson

In this world, where thousands of people speak in thousands of different language, where people every now and then got into conflicts with others, where the war took over the place of love and brotherhood and friendship; Music and Flower are  the one and only way, which has the power to unite all the people across the globe despite cast and creed and language. Be it classical, or jazz or folk or rock or any other genre, music is the language of the soul only and it can break all the borders and the boundaries.

Known by so many names worldwide like, ‘ Make Music Day’ or ‘Music day’ and so many more, the “ Fete de la Musique” or the “ World Music Day” is basically the plain and simple celebration of Music, which takes place on 21st June, every year all over the globe. The primary agenda behind celebrating Music is to convince each and every person of this world to play music or to sing a song out in the public place or in the neighborhood. On the occasion of World Music day, several free music concerts and shows have been organized around the world, were just to celebrate the beauty of music and just for the sake of Music only; musicians play for their heart and soul and fun.

“THE MUSIC EVERYWHERE, CONCERT NOWHERE”

During October 1981, as per the request of Jack Lang, the minister of culture of that time in France, famous French composer and music journalist Maurice Fleuret became the Director of Music and Dance under the Ministry. During that time, Lang and Fleuret organized a study on the cultural habits of French People. And he observed that among 5 million population of the country, every one of two young people in a family can play at least one instrument or can sing, but never practiced or showcased their talents outside their home or music classes. From that survey, he summarized his reflections on the journey of Music and its evolution and from that point of view, the concept of “Music everywhere, concert nowhere” was emerged. And that turns out as a dream of a new era, where people came out on the street just to play and enjoy music, was born. To take the first step towards that big dream, the very first “ Fete de la Musique” was celebrated in Paris on the day of the summer solstice (21st June), 1982, solely organized by the Ministry of Culture, France.

The “World Music Day” celebrates and promote music in two significant ways:

By encouraging amateur and professional musicians to perform in the streets and express their talent to the others

By organizing several free concerts throughout the country, for making all kind of music accessible to the people. In France, all the concerts organized during the “ Fete de la Musique” is free to enter and all the musicians performed for no cost as well.
From the day of its inception, after getting international acclamation after almost three decades, the World Music Festival become an international phenomenon and celebrated on the eve of summer solstice everywhere in more than 700 cities in around 120 countries which includes countries like India, USA, Uk, China, Japa, Mexico, Peru, Australia, Ecuador, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Italy, Germany, Italy and Greece and many more.

So, this World Music Day”, reinvent the power of music and groove into it until you “Break a leg”.
